Sotiris Koutsogiorgas, MD

Dr. Koutsogiorgas embarked on his journey in medicine with a dual degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Athens Medical School in 1979. He then pursued his passion for surgery by completing his general surgery residency at Columbia University in New York, earning certification from the American Board of Surgery in 1983. His interest in plastic surgery led him to Tulane University in New Orleans, where he underwent specialized training in Plastic Surgery and microsurgery, obtaining the title of Plastic Surgeon in 1985. Dr. Koutsogiorgas then served as an assistant professor at Tulane University before returning to Greece permanently in 1988. Upon his return, Dr. Koutsogiorgas began his collaboration as an associate Plastic Surgeon at the Athens Medical Center, quickly rising to become the Director of the Plastic Surgery clinic in 1990. In 2000, he established the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Clinic in a newly established private clinic, where he served as Director for 5 years. Since 2005, Dr. Koutsogiorgas has held the esteemed position of Director of the Plastic & Refractive Clinic at the Athens Medical Center. He is recognized as one of the few Greek plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Plastic Surgery and the Hellenic Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Koutsogiorgas has performed thousands of cosmetic and reconstructive operations on patients from Greece and abroad. His contributions to the field of plastic surgery extend beyond the operating room, as he serves as an editor and academic advisor for the international journal "Aesthetic Plastic Surgery." Dr. Koutsogiorgas expertise and dedication to advancing the field have been showcased through his participation in numerous world conferences and his scientific publications in authoritative journals.
