Nikolaos Saratzis, MD, PhD

Dr. Saratzis has a rich background in endovascular surgery, cultivated through diverse experiences across the globe. He embarked on a journey that took him to the Vascular Surgery Clinic of the Municipal Hospital Nuremberg, Germany, where he gained expertise in open carotid eversion endarterectomy and aneurysm surgery under the guidance of D. Raithel in 1990 and 1991. While, in Phoenix, Arizona, under the mentorship of E. Diethrich in 2005, he honed his skills in cutting-edge techniques. In March 2006, Dr. Saratzis expanded his repertoire with percutaneous angioplasty of the carotid artery at the Cardiac Centre St. Katharinen, Frankfurt, Germany, mentored by Horst Sievert. He further enriched their knowledge through workshops, including endovascular thoracic aortic aneurysm repair in Vienna in December 2006, under A. Cherny and B. Sekl. His journey continued with endovascular treatment of lesions of superficial femoral artery and tibial arteries in Brussels in September 2008 under the guidance of I. Baumgartner, F. Vermassen and in Cotignola, Italy, at Maria Cecilia Hospital in May 2009, under A. Cremonezi. Dr. Saratzis's dedication to continuous learning is evident in their participation in training sessions for advanced graft systems such as Treovance graft, NELLIX graft, and Endologix AFX graft. Notably, he acquired expertise in fenestrated Anaconda endograft for pararenal aneurysms during a workshop at Saint Marys’ Hospital in London in November 2014. A respected member of esteemed vascular surgery societies, including the European Society of Vascular Surgery (ESVS) and the International Society of Endovascular Surgery (ISES), Dr. Saratzis also holds membership in the International College of Surgeons since 2012. His commitment to advancing medical knowledge is further exemplified through his involvement in multicenter studies. Dr. Saratzis continues to push the boundaries of endovascular surgery, striving to provide the highest level of care to his patients while contributing to the advancement of medical science.
