Ellada Papadogeorgou

Dr. Papadogeorgou was born in Thessaloniki but grew up in Athens, where she excelled academically at the College of Athens. Graduating in 1989 as the Salutatorian with numerous honors, she pursued her medical education at the Medical Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her passion for orthopedics led her to specialize in the field at P.G. KAT Hospital and the First Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Athens under the mentorship of Mr. Panagiotis N. Soukakos. Throughout her training, she developed a keen interest in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery, focusing on congenital anomalies of the upper limb and cerebral palsy. In addition to her specialty training, she dedicated two years as an unpaid Research Associate at the Hand Surgery-Microsurgery department of P.G. KAT Hospital, further enriching her knowledge and skills. In 2007, she earned her Doctorate from the School of Medicine of the University of Athens, presenting a thesis on "Hypoplasia and Aplasia of the Thumb: Classification and Clinical Evaluation of Therapeutic Options," under the guidance of Professor P.N. Soukakos. Seeking further expertise, Greece pursued advanced training in Hand Surgery in Paris at the prestigious Institut de la main, Clinique Jouvenet, and Clinique la Francilienne, Urgences mains de l Est Parisien. She also undertook specialized training at the Nuffield Hospital Oxford Department of Plastic Surgery, focusing on congenital anomalies of the upper limb. In 2009, she became the first Greek Surgeon to receive the European Diploma in Hand Surgery (EDHS) after passing rigorous exams. Returning to Greece, Greece Papadogeorgou established a new Department of Hand Surgery and Microsurgery at the 3rd Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Athens in P.G. KAT Hospital, where she worked until December 2011. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in medical education, delivering speeches at conferences, seminars, and educational programs both domestically and internationally. She has contributed to medical literature with publications in international and Greek medical journals, conference proceedings, and medical book chapters. With extensive surgical experience in emergency and chronic cases, including joint fusions, fractures, tendon, nerve, and vascular injury repairs, Greece Papadogeorgou has become a leading expert in her field. Her expertise extends to major rehabilitation operations and the treatment of congenital anomalies of the upper limb. She is a distinguished member of various professional societies, including the Hellenic Society of Microsurgery, the Hellenic Society of Hand Surgery, the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand, and the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. Since January 2012, Dr. Papadogeorgou has been residing and practicing in Thessaloniki, collaborating with the Trans-Balkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki, where she continues to make significant contributions to the field of Orthopedic Surgery, particularly in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery.
