Alexandros Beris

Dr. Beris has dedicated over two decades to the advancement of orthopedic surgery and medical education. His illustrious career began in 1989 when he assumed the role of Head of the Microsurgery Laboratory at the Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Ioannina. Over the years, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to excellence, leading to his appointment as the Director of the Microsurgery Laboratory in 2002. In addition to his role in the laboratory, Dr. Beris served as the Director of the Orthopedic Clinic at the University Hospital of Ioannina from 2004 to 2005, further showcasing his administrative acumen and dedication to patient care. Driven by a passion for enhancing rehabilitation services, Dr. Beris took on the role of Director at the "Stavros Niarchos" Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center from 2006 to 2010. During his tenure, he implemented innovative strategies to improve patient outcomes and quality of care. In recognition of his expertise and leadership, Dr. Beris was appointed as the Director of the Department of Surgery at the University of Ioannina from 2010 to 2015. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in shaping the department's curriculum and research initiatives, fostering a culture of academic excellence. Simultaneously, Dr. Beris continued to serve as the Director of the Orthopedic Clinic at the University Hospital of Ioannina from 2011 to 2015, overseeing the delivery of specialized orthopedic care and contributing to advancements in surgical techniques. Throughout his tenure in various leadership roles, Dr. Beris has made significant contributions to orthopedic surgery, medical education, and patient care, earning him widespread respect and admiration within the medical community.

  • 1977-1980: Specialization in Orthopedics at the University Orthopedic Clinic of Athens, KAT Hospital, under the direction of Prof. G. Hartofilakidis.

  • 1980-1982: Retraining in Pediatric Orthopedics as a specialist at the Orthopedic Clinic of the "Agia Sophia" Children's Hospital, under the supervision of Director A. Morakis.

  • 1979: Became a member of the Microsurgery team (Head Prof. Soukakos University).

  • 1983: Presented thesis entitled "The bridging of arterial deficits with microvenous grafts" at the University of Athens, receiving a grade of "Excellent".

  • 1986-1987: Retraining in Microsurgery and Hand Surgery at the Orthopedic Department of DUKE University in North Carolina, USA, under Prof. J. Urbaniak.

  • 1990-Present: Scientific Officer and Vice President at ELEPAP Ioannina for the last 15 years.
